Terms & Conditions
The agreement between you and Aurora Trust Bank when you hold an account or use our digital services.
Last updated 1 August 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By opening an account, signing in, or using any Aurora Trust Bank service, you agree to these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
We may need to change these terms as products, regulations or risks change. Material changes are notified at least 30 days in advance by email to every account holder and by notice inside online banking.
2. Account Eligibility and Responsibilities
To open an account you must be at least 18 years old, provide accurate personal information, and complete identity verification.
You are responsible for keeping your password and transaction PIN confidential, for the accuracy of the information you give us, and for telling us promptly if your contact details change or you suspect unauthorised access.
Joint accounts
A Joint Account is held by two people who share one set of sign-in credentials and one transaction PIN. Both holders should understand what that means before opening one:
- Either holder can view the full account, move money and change settings, without the other being present.
- Both holders are jointly and severally liable for the account, including any overdrawn balance.
- Both holders must complete identity verification before the account is activated.
- Notices, statements and transaction receipts are sent to both holders.
- Adding, removing or changing a holder requires a written request from both parties.
3. Transactions and Financial Services
Transfers, deposits and withdrawals are processed in the order received and may be subject to review before settlement. We may place a hold on a transaction where required by law or where we reasonably suspect fraud.
Certain transfers require authorisation codes issued by the bank. These codes are single use, expire, and must never be shared with anyone, including someone claiming to be from Aurora Trust Bank.
Published limits and fees apply. Current limits are shown inside online banking before you confirm a transaction.
4. Security and Fraud Prevention
We monitor accounts continuously for unusual activity and may contact you to confirm a transaction. We will never ask for your password, transaction PIN, or a full authorisation code by phone, email or message.
Report a lost or stolen card, or any suspected unauthorised access, immediately on +1 (800) 555-0199. That line is staffed 24 hours a day.
5. Limitation of Liability
We are liable for losses caused by our own failure to take reasonable care. We are not liable for losses arising from your failure to keep credentials secure, from inaccurate instructions you give us, or from events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
6. Account Termination
You may close an account at any time, provided the balance is settled. We may suspend or close an account where we are required to by law, where the account is used unlawfully, or where the relationship has broken down, giving you at least 30 days notice unless the law requires otherwise.
Closing a Joint Account requires instruction from both holders.
7. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of the Northwest Territories and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
If something goes wrong, tell us first: most complaints are resolved within five business days. If we cannot resolve it to your satisfaction, you may escalate to our internal Ombudsman and then to the external complaints body we are a member of. We will give you those details in writing.
