Privacy Policy
What personal information Aurora Trust Bank collects, why we hold it, and the rights you have over it.
Last updated 1 August 2026
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to open and run your accounts, and to meet our legal obligations.
- Identity: name, date of birth, occupation, marital status and government-issued photo identification.
- Contact: postal address, email address and telephone number.
- Financial: account balances, transaction history, and the accounts you send money to.
- Technical: IP address, device and browser details, and sign-in records.
Joint accounts
On a Joint Account we collect and hold this information for both holders. Because the account is shared, each holder can see the account activity of the other. Identity documents are stored separately per holder and are not visible to the other holder inside online banking.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate your accounts, process transactions, verify your identity, detect and prevent fraud, meet anti-money-laundering and reporting obligations, and to contact you about your accounts.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising by third parties.
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We share personal information only where necessary: with regulators and law enforcement where legally required, with payment networks and correspondent banks to settle transactions you have instructed, and with service providers bound by confidentiality obligations.
Where a transfer leaves Canada, the receiving institution will necessarily receive the details needed to settle it.
4. Data Security
Credentials are stored using one-way cryptographic hashing and are never recoverable in plain text, by us or by anyone else. Transport is encrypted. Access to customer records is restricted to staff who need it and is logged.
No system is perfect. If a breach affects you, we will tell you and the relevant regulator without undue delay.
6. Data Retention
We keep account and transaction records for seven years after an account closes, as financial regulation requires. Identity documents are retained for the life of the relationship plus seven years. Sign-in records are kept for two years.
7. Your Rights
Under Canadian federal privacy law you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, provide a copy of it, correct anything inaccurate, or explain how a decision about you was made.
Some information cannot be deleted on request, because we are legally required to retain it. We will always tell you when that is the case and why.
To make a request, write to support@auroratrustbank.com. We respond within 30 days.
